Our client, the German Red Cross (DRK), needed a solid protective case for their operations, in which radios and charging stations could be safely stored.
Peli Cases, originally developed for the US military, remain the first choice when it comes to robustness and security. Besides the military, these cases are now found in almost all sectors: fire departments, THW (German Federal Agency for Technical Relief), medical services, and all other forms of rescue forces. They are impact-resistant, waterproof, dustproof, and certified for air travel, withstanding even the toughest conditions.
To have 5 radios, 5 antennas, and a charging station with cables immediately accessible, all items had to be on one level. This task was best accomplished with a long case, as the charging station would not have fit into a conventional case. Peli Case offers several models in its product line, which mainly differ in length and depth.
Peli Case 1700 had the right dimensions for our project.
Given the amount of high-quality individual parts to be stored in the case, a waterjet-cut hard foam insert is the best solution for padding. For this, all individual parts are scanned and a CAD program is written.
The additional costs for scanning and programming, compared to padding with conventional cubed foam blocks, quickly make sense when higher quantities of the cut are to be produced. If another run of the cut is to be made at a later time, you only need the existing program and can start production immediately.
